The city of Veliko Turnovo is situated in the Central Northern Bulgaria and has unique natural and architectural sights. It was the capital of Bulgaria during the 12-14th centuries, and it was one of the leading centers of the fights for national liberation and cultural independence during the Revival period. After the liberation the first session of the new Bulgarian Parliament was held in this town, and the independence of Bulgaria was declared in 1908. |
