The Art Gallery is situated in three minutes away from the center of the city, at the end of the walking avenue to the north. The exhibition is in the building of the "Historical Museum-Art Gallery" (address: "St. Kiril & Metodi" St. No.9).

Town Information

The city of Kazanlak is famous as a birthplace of the rose and the artists. It has a rich history and keeps a lot of treasures. In Kazanlak you can visit the Thracian tomb with the mural paintings, the Rose museum, The homes of Detchko Ouzounov, Nenko Balkanski, and Chiudomir, the Ethnographical complex, the Nunnery and the fife churches. There are two more tombs in 14 km away from the city, and many others.

The permanent exhibition is divided into four halls and a foyer, and it reveals a rich collection of icons [57] from the 17th-20th century and 266 of artworks such as paintings and sculptures by 145 artists.

The siginificant work is of the 59 artists, who were connected to the city of Kazanlak:
P. Klissuorov, Iv. Vatlchanov, Iv Enchev-Vidiu, Z. Zelev, Iv. Milev, Iv. Penkov, Dim. Tchorbadgijski-Chiudomir, N. Koziuharov, S.Stamatov, D.Ouzounov, N.Balkanski, K.Tringov, V.Barakov, H.Pesev and etc.

Furthermore, there are 88 artists who are prominent representatives of the bulgarian pictorial and plastic arts:
Iv. Markvichka, St. Ivanov, B. Denev, Z .Boijadgjiev, Tz.Lavrenov, V.Dimitrov- Master, B.Stoilov, Iv.Petrov, K.Tzonev, B.Obreshkov, A.Petrov, and Sculpturers- A.Andreev, Z.Spiridonov, A.Nikolov, A.Dudulov, P.Ramadanov, and Iv. Lazarov.

Most of the shown works in the exhibition are donations to the gallery.

The Art Gallery- Kazanlak offers to your attention to the exhibitions in the native houses of Acad. Detchko Ouzounov and Prof. Nenko Balkanski, where a part of their collections is exhibited.

There is a permanent exhibition hall in the Аrt Gallery.

Year of Establishment 1901
Founder Ivan Entchev-Vidiu

In 1901 in Kazanlak-based Museum of Antiquities and Arts, with the conception of the self-educated artist Ivan Entchev-Vidiu an art collection was established with art works that were given as gifts from the artists of Kazanlak. The most beneficial period of the gallery was between 1930-1958 when the director of the museum is Dimitar Tchorbadgjiski-Chiudomir. He succeeded in enriching the collection of the gallery with a nationally significant works and artists.

From 1973 The Art Gallery was organized as a separate institution, and since 1981 it unveils its exhibition in the building of the new Historical Museum-Art Gallery.

The Kazanlak Art Gallery possesses a valuable fund of paintings, graphics, and sculptural works of artists from Kazanlak and the rest of the country. Some of them are presented with collections endowed to the Gallery. It also possesses a collection of icons and engravings and a smaller collection of decorative-applied arts.The Gallery also possesses collections of paintings and ex libris of foreign artists, which came in through the International open-air painting and the International exhibition "Ex libris" in the city of Kazanlak.
