Tryavna is an old town with rich cultural traditions and history. During the Revival period, the town became home to the biggest and the most famous art school in Bulgaria. The specialities of the school are icon-painting, woodcarving, and architecture. Visitors can experience a lot of Western-style archtecutual monuments in town- the old town , clock tower, churches, and more. |

Daskalov House consists of Tryavna's Renaissance wood carvings and a collection of the distinctive wood carver Gentcho Marangozov. There are 613 objects of art including wood carved ceilings, church wood carving, icon stands, wood sculptures of Bulgarian khans and tsars, wooden-reliefs of outstanding figures from the time of Bulgarian Revival. |

The first museum collection was established in 1920 in the Joinery School of Tryavna. In 1959 the collection was exhibited in a community center. The museum like today, which is specialized in woodcarving, was opened in 1963. Since 1984, the museum has been focusing on the woodcarving art of Tryavna.
