Art gallery "Boris Denev" exhibits its funds in a nice building situated in a picturesque park. It is open in 1985 in honour of a National Jubilee - 800 years since the revolt of Assen and Peter against the Byzantine oppression and the restoration of the Bulgarian state. On the first floor there is a permanent exhibition "Veliko Turnovo through the glance of the artist". On the second floor different kinds of exhibitions are on display. Next to the gallery is the monument dedicated to the kings of the Assenov dynasty. In the Middle Ages these rulers were of a great importance for the restoration and the consolidation of the Bulgarian state.

One of the oldest in the country Art Gallery "Boris Denev" in Veliko Turnovo is open since 1934. Later on it enriches and fills up its funds with works of great artistic values. Now the museum keeps more than 5300 exhibits differentiated in three sections: painting, graphic works and sculpture. The gallery collects and preserves art by Bulgarian artists from all over the country.
